Join Community Partner NCJW, GRS at Rochester Jewish Film Festival’s screening of Cinema Sabaya. 

At a workshop, a group of Arab and Jewish women learn to document their lives on video. As the women share their raw footage, they are forced to challenge preconceived beliefs.
Writer-director Orit Fouks Rotem’s dramatic narrative feels utterly real because it is based closely on her own teaching experiences and features a mix of seasoned and non-professional actors. A heartfelt portrait of art’s power to unite disparate communities, Cinema Sabaya won five Ophirs (Israeli Academy Awards) including Best Picture, Director, and Supporting Actress, and was Israel’s entry in the 95th Academy Awards.
